Backstory: There is always one panel that most of the people in a room are waiting to see and on Thursday at the Indigo Ballroom that panel was Silicon Valley. This is the show’s first appearance at Comic-Con. The half-hour comedy series on HBO is a hilarious account of the trials and tribulations of a tech startup that wants to change the world with a compression algorithm. Mike Judge, the creator and showrunner, worked in Silicon Valley before going on to create Beavis and Butthead and American Dad so he has some familiarity with the area. Silicon Valley trains a spotlight on the absurdity that surrounds tech culture, especially in Silicon Valley. The shows are made even more hilarious thanks to the improv talents of its main stars: Thomas Middleditch, TJ Miller, Kumail Nanjiana, Martn Starr, and Zach Woods. Although Miller and Starr could not attend the panel (both were off shooting movies), the rest of the cast did just fine keeping the Indigo Ballroom audience in stitches. Apologies if it’s hard to hear the panel due to all of the laughter.
