Director David Cronenberg teams up with Viggo Mortenson once again for the period piece “A Dangerous Method.” The movie is a fictional account of the professional and personal rivalry between Dr. Carl Jung, played by Michael Fassbender, and Dr. Sigmund Freud, played by Mortenson. Keira Knightley also stars as a mentally damaged woman who causes both men to succumb to their darkest urges and desires.
Cronenberg and Mortenson work well together and their last two pictures, “A History of Violence” and “Eastern Promises” were both solid films. I have to admit I’m not completely sold on the subject matter of the film but the actors are all very talented and the partnership of Cronenberg and Mortenson has produced great results so far.
The movie opens in Los Angeles and New York on Nov. 23.
