Date: April 15, 2010
Location: Telephone one-on-one
Player(s): Allen Wolf, writer-director
Backstory: Plenty of filmmakers max out credit cards to raise money for their film projects, but not many launch a board game company, like Allen Wolf did, to get the financing they need. Wolf, the writer-director of “In My Sleep,” spent five years raising money for his independent feature, which was inspired by news accounts of people who committed murders while sleepwalking. A graduate of New York University film school, Wolf was a finalist for the Student Academy Awards for his senior thesis “Harlem Grace.” Wolf’s enthusiasm for filmmaking began when he was nine years old making short films with his uncle’s Super 8 film camera. Cast members of “In My Sleep” agree Wolf’s boundless energy is one of the reasons why they enjoyed working with him on the picture.
