HERO DVD Box ArtMiramax Home Entertainment and Quentin Tarantino, master filmmaker of such action favorites as “Kill Bill” Volumes 1 and 2, and “Pulp Fiction” presents “HERO,” the incredible marital arts adventure, on DVD Nov 30. “HERO” stars international action sensation Jet Li (“The One,” “Cradle 2 The Grave,” “Romeo Must Die”) and a huge cast in a visually stunning, epic tale in the tradition of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” Directed by Zhang Yimou (“Raise The Red Lantern,”) HERO debuted and reigned for two weeks in the U.S. as the #1 Theatrical box-office champion. The film has won worldwide critical acclaim, and was nominated for the 2003 Academy Award® and 2003 Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

This amazing story, based on a famous Chinese legend of a lone warrior who rises up to defend an empire, will be available on DVD with both the original Chinese language audio soundtrack (with English subtitles) and an optional English audio soundtrack. On DVD for $29.99 and on VHS for $24.99.

Divided into sections entitled ‘Backstory,’ ‘The Action,’ ‘The Challenges’ and ‘The Magic,’ this fascinating featurette explores how the filmmakers overcame enormous challenges to blend epic action, visual poetry and personal drama together to create the unique spirit of “HERO.”

Through interviews and on-set footage, the filmmakers tell in their own words how the script was developed and talent assembled. Discover how the film’s amazing locations were decided upon, and how huge logistical challenges, such as the king’s palace (the largest movie set in China), were met. Learn how the filmmakers approached the remarkable action sequences, and how the actors, some schooled in martial arts and some not, made their scenes come to life.
