One of the great pleasures of covering a press day for a small, independent movie is the access one gets to the stars, which can sometimes include high-profile talent.

“The Wackness” was written and directed by Jonathan Levine, who had the great fortune of writing a script that attracted Oscar-winner Sir Ben Kingsley. Kingsley is among a class of actors, like Anthony Hopkins, Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Kevin Spacey, who are so strongly admired among actors that they attract talent to whatever project they are working on.

In “The Wackness” Kingsley creates another memorable character in his long list of memorable roles. His performance is equal parts hilarious and touching. It’s likely the film will make it onto a few Top 10 lists at the end of the year.  “The Wackness” is currently playing in Los Angeles and opens July 11 in San Diego.
